The catharsis of forgiveness.
There is a certain tranquility in forgiveness. To simply let go of anger or disappointment. Moving forward after the end of something that once brought you joy is one of the hardest things to do, but truly finding forgiveness within your heart makes it easier.
Not because the pain disappears overnight, or because the memories suddenly stop hurting, but because forgiveness loosens the grip the past has on you. It stops every thought from turning into a wound you keep reopening. It allows silence to become peaceful again instead of heavy.
There is grief in letting go, but there is also freedom.
And sometimes, in the middle of an ordinary afternoon, you realize you are no longer angry, or hurt, or harboring disappointment. Just thankful that something beautiful once existed at all.
